P2P Markets: When You Start From Fiat
Peer-to-peer markets match you with a person who sells XMR for cash, bank transfer or gift cards, with the market holding the coins in escrow until both sides confirm. It’s slower and you need to check the trader’s reputation, but it’s the main no-account way in from fiat. The Exchanges section of Monerica lists the P2P options currently in the directory.
Atomic Swaps: Trustless BTC ↔ XMR
An atomic swap exchanges BTC and XMR directly between two parties using cryptography, so neither side can run off with the coins. There’s no company in the middle at all. The catch: it takes longer, needs a bit more technical comfort, and fewer people offer them, so available amounts are smaller.
Crypto ATMs
A few Bitcoin ATMs also sell Monero for cash. They’re convenient but usually expensive, and many require ID above small limits. Check the fee shown on screen before you insert cash.
