Monero Explorer

Last updated: September 12th, 2025

A Monero explorer lets you inspect public network data—blocks, mempool activity, fees, and confirmation counts—without revealing who sent or received funds.

Thanks to stealth addresses, ring signatures, and confidential amounts, explorers cannot show balances tied to your addresses or a full payment history for you (by design).

Quick Answer

  • Look up a payment using your TXID (transaction hash) to see status and confirmation count.
  • Timing: ~2 minute target block time. 1st confirmation ≈ ~2 minutes; many wallets “unlock” after ~10 confirmations (~20 minutes). Exchanges may require 10–30 confirmations.
  • Privacy: Explorers show network facts (blocks/fees/status), not who paid whom or your balance.

How to Check a Monero Transaction

  1. Copy your TXID from the wallet or merchant invoice page.
  2. Paste it into any explorer’s search bar (see list below).
  3. Review confirmations, block height, and fee/size. If it’s still in the mempool, wait for inclusion in the next block(s).

Tip: If a recipient requires 10–30 confirmations, your wallet may show “confirmed” while their system still waits to hit that threshold.

What Explorers Can (and Can’t) Reveal

  • Shows: latest blocks, mempool backlog, fees, tx inclusion, ring size, miner data, key images.
  • Does not show: who paid whom, your balance, or a full address history.

Confirmations & Timing

  • Target block time: ~2 minutes per block.
  • 1st confirmation: ≈ ~2 minutes (on average).
  • Common “unlocked” default: ~10 confirmations (~20 minutes). Some services require 10–30.

Privacy Best Practices

  • Never paste your seed or private keys into any site.
  • Avoid sharing view keys unless you fully trust the tool and understand the trade-offs.
  • Use Tor or your own node to reduce metadata exposure when checking TXIDs.

Troubleshooting Slow or “Stuck” Transfers

  • Low fee priority: Re-send with a normal/fast fee if blocks are busy (if your wallet supports it).
  • Wallet/node sync: Ensure both you and the recipient are synced to chain tip.
  • Recipient policy: They might be waiting for more confirmations than you expect.
  • Restore height issues: Set sensible wallet restore/start heights to speed up scanning.

Bottom line: Use a TXID in any explorer above to verify inclusion and confirmations. Expect most routine payments to feel complete within ~2–20 minutes, depending on the receiver’s policy.
